STOCKS TO WATCH
Results
ABB Ltd (ABB). The Swiss engineering firm said its order situation could improve in the coming months, suggesting there was some light amid the gloom surrounding the industrial sector caused to the coronavirus crisis. ABB's operational earnings before interest, tax and amortisation (EBITA) fell 21% to $651 million, but beat the $446 million expectation in a company-gathered poll. Revenue fell 14% to $6.15 billion, also better than the $5.61 billion consensus. Orders fell 18%, with the United States, ABB's biggest market and the country worst hit by the crisis, seeing orders falling 25%. Net profit jumped to $319 million from $69 million a year earlier.
Best Buy Inc (BBY). The retailer said on Tuesday its quarter-to-date sales rose about 2.5%, driven by a surge in online shopping for electronic devices and appliances, sending its shares up 4% in extended trading. Best Buy said its online sales jumped more than three-fold in the current quarter through July 18, while overall sales rose about 15% since it started reopening stores on June 15. Best Buy also said it would raise hourly wages for its employees by 4%, replacing its short-term incentive pay it introduced during the pandemic, from Aug. 2. It added it would raise the starting wage to $15 per hour.
Check Point Software Technologies Ltd (CHKP). The company reported higher quarterly net profit that beat expectations, boosted by increased demand for network security as more people work remotely during the coronavirus outbreak. Israel-based Check Point said it earned $1.58 per diluted share excluding one-time items in the second quarter, up from $1.38 a year earlier. Revenue grew 4% to $506 million. It was forecast to earn $1.44 a share on revenue of $488 million. Check Point said it bought back 3.1 million shares in the quarter worth $325 million as part of its share repurchase programme.
Snap Inc (SNAP). The Snapchat owner said on Tuesday a bump in user growth at the start of coronavirus-led lockdowns petered out sooner than expected, and it forecast fewer current-quarter users than the Wall Street consensus. The Snapchat owner said daily active users (DAUs) rose 17% to 238 million in the second quarter ended June 30. Analysts had expected 238.44 million. Snap forecast 242 million to 244 million daily active users in the current quarter, below analysts' target of 244.82 million according to Refinitiv data. Revenue from ad sales jumped about 17% to $454.2 million during the quarter, above estimates of $440.8 million. Average revenue per user was $1.91, barely changed from the year-ago quarter. Snap's net loss widened to about $326 million, or 23 cents per share, from $255.2 million, or 19 cents per share, a year earlier.
Texas Instruments Inc (TXN). The chipmaker forecast third-quarter revenue above estimates on Tuesday as a global shift to work-from-home boosted demand for chips used in tablets, personal computers and servers, offering some hope to an industry reeling from disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. TI said it expects current-quarter revenue in the range of $3.26 billion and $3.54 billion, above analysts' expectations of $3.12 billion. The overall revenue was impacted due to a 40% slump in sales to the automotive market, without which second-quarter revenue was down 3% from a year ago, Pahl said. Net income rose 6% to $1.38 billion, or $1.48 per share, in the quarter ended June 30, beating estimates of 88 cents.
United Airlines Holdings Inc (UAL). The airlines said on Tuesday it burned through about $40 million per day in the second quarter but sees that amount slowing to roughly $25 million in the third quarter as it matches its flight schedule to coronavirus-hit demand. Chicago-based United reported an adjusted net loss of $2.6 billion for the June quarter, or a $9.31 per-share loss, versus a $4.21 per-share profit a year ago, as revenue dropped 87% to $1.475 billion. Analysts on average expected a loss of $9.02 per share and revenue of $1.321 billion, according to data from Refinitiv. In the third quarter, United expects to operate about 35% of the schedule it flew in 2019.

IPOs
Jamf Holding Corp (JAMF). The software maker on Tuesday raised $468 million in its U.S. initial public offering, signaling strong demand for new issues in a market that has rebounded strongly from a coronavirus-induced slump. The company priced its offering of 18 million shares at $26 per share, above its price range of $21 to $23. The offering was upsized from the previously announced 16 million shares. Funds affiliated with Dragoneer Investment Group and Tiger Global Management have indicated interest in purchasing shares of up to $50 million each in the firm's offering. Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, BofA Securities and Barclays are among the lead underwriters to Jamf's offering.

In Other News
Boeing Co (BA). Qantas Airways's last Boeing 747 jet drew a kangaroo tail in the sky off the Australian coast as it began its final flight to retirement in the Mojave Desert, ending the model's almost half a century of service at the carrier. Qantas was once the world's only airline with an all 747 fleet. There are only 30 747 passenger jets left in service globally and 132 in storage, according to aviation data provider Cirium, with freighters accounting for 93% of the type still flying. Qantas Chief Executive Alan Joyce said Qantas had sold five of its 747s to General Electric.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCAU). Self-driving car company Waymo and Fiat Chrysler are expanding their autonomous vehicle partnership to commercial vehicles, and Fiat Chrysler will develop fully self-driving vehicles exclusively with Waymo going forward, the companies said. In a blog post, Waymo and Fiat Chrysler said they will collaborate on "level 4" autonomous driving, a reference to a Society of Automotive Engineers classification that defines such vehicles as capable of driving themselves and taking action on their own if a dangerous situation occurs or the system fails. Separately, EU antitrust regulators have suspended their investigation into Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot maker PSA's proposed merger while waiting for the carmakers to provide requested data. Meanwhile, Frankfurt prosecutors said they were searching offices as part of an international fraud investigation into potentially illegal emissions cheating defeat devices found in engines used in Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Iveco vehicles.
Marriott International Inc (MAR). The hotel operator said it expected room occupancy rates in Greater China to rise to 60% next month and forecast it could recover to pre-coronavirus levels by the start of 2021, as domestic travel in the country ticks up. Craig S. Smith, the company's Asia-Pacific group president, said the pace of recovery was also "encouraging" with an average occupancy rate of 37% in the region in July. "Obviously Asia will lead the world recovery in our industry," Smith told Reuters in an interview. "For all the Asia-Pacific I think the recovery to pre-COVID levels will be next year. We are hoping that China recovers sometime around the first quarter of 2021."
Mylan NV (MYL). The drugmaker said it has received Indian regulatory approval to make tuberculosis treatment pretomanid available in a country that accounts for a quarter of the world's cases. Mylan will initially make a donation of 400 treatment courses of pretomanid under the Indian government's National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) and will provide commercial access at $364 for a six-month treatment course. "The Drug Controller General of India has approved the anti-tuberculosis drug pretomanid for conditional access under the NTEP," Mylan said in an emailed statement.
Petroleo Brasileiro SA Petrobras (PBR). Coronavirus outbreaks at a number of platforms operated by Brazil's Petrobras hit production in the second quarter, the company said on Tuesday, though the firm indicated output may improve in certain regions. The company said it produced 2.802 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) in the second quarter. That was up 6.4% from the same period last year, but down 3.7% from the first quarter. Petrobras produced 2.245 million barrels of crude per day, it said, up 9.4% in annual terms and down 3.2% on a quarterly basis.
Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (RBS). The bank has hired climate change expert Nicholas Stern to help shape its sustainability strategy as the state-backed lender prepares to rebrand as NatWest Group. RBS Chief Executive Alison Rose has made helping to tackle climate change a big part of her strategy to rebuild its brand and break with its chequered recent past. "There is an intense urgency to tackle climate change now: this is an absolutely crucial decade for taking action to protect future generations," Stern said, adding that the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the "dangers, fragility and inequities of the old economy".
Royal Dutch Shell Plc (RDSA). The company stopped a leak on Tuesday in the shut gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracker (FCC) at its 318,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) joint venture Deer Park, Texas, refinery, said sources familiar with plant operations. Shell is stripping insulation from the main fractionator column of the 70,000-bpd FCC to repair the leak that led to a fire on Saturday night, forcing the unit's shutdown, the sources said. Shell is also blocking off pipes in the FCC ahead of repairing the leak, the sources said.
Tesla Inc (TSLA). The company has advertised for servicing staff in Singapore, a country previously criticised by Chief Executive Elon Musk as unsupportive of electric vehicles. Listings for five jobs in Singapore on networking website LinkedIn are mainly in servicing and repair, such as a service technician and parts adviser. It was not clear where in Singapore the new hires would be based, or whether the U.S. automaker currently has any employees in the country.
Twitter Inc (TWTR). The social media company said on Tuesday it would permanently suspend accounts that violate its policies while tweeting about QAnon, a fringe group that claims "deep-state" traitors are plotting against President Donald Trump. The company said it would not serve content and accounts associated with QAnon in trends and recommendations, and would block URLs associated with the group from being shared on the platform. The suspensions will be applied to accounts "engaged in violations of our multi-account policy, coordinating abuse around individual victims, or are attempting to evade a previous suspension — something we’ve seen more of in recent weeks," Twitter said.

Wake-up call: Toch dubbele TOP Nasdaq? Europa ook rond weerstand

Goedemorgen
